Nearly $2,900 was raised in this year's Gingerbread House
Contest, surpassing the amounts raised in first two years of
the competition.
The winning house in the youth category was created by theChrist
the KingCandy
Crew. Second place in the Youth Category was built by
Brownie Troop 263. First place in the adult category was
awarded to South County Habitat Women's Crew for the second
year in a row. Second place in the Adult Category was theThundermist
Health Center. An honorable mention award for exceptional
philanthropy was awarded to the University of Rhode Island's
Greek Community for raising $1,500!
Thank you to Brickley's Ice Cream, Guys & Gals, and Arnold
Lumber for donating window space for Gingerbread House
displays, and to numerous Wakefield merchants who aided in
advertising the contest and collecting votes and donations.
And thank you to Penny Cahill and the rest of the volunteers
on the Gingerbread House Committee for making this project a
delicious success!
